Skyhop(e) is a minimalistic spatial jetpack platformer where the goal is to visit the correct colored floating cubes in space. The game ends when the jetpack runs out of energy—but thatโ€™s not entirely true. Instead, the game transitions into a final free-fall phase, where the player can attempt to collect last-minute points or engage in damage control, as touching the wrong-colored cubes deducts hard-earned score points.

Note 1: Unfortunately, we weren't able to upload the latest version to Itch.io (due to a last-minute bug in export ๐Ÿ˜ž). For the best experience, when your jetpack runs out of energy and "The End" appears on the screen, please refrain from using the jetpack any further. Instead, enjoy the second phase of the game—the free fallfrom hero to zero... to the ground. ๐Ÿš€โฌ‡๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Note 2: ๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ Sometimes, the game may incorrectly take control of the mouse at the start. If this happens, simply open the pause menu (P or Spacebar) and then resume the game. This will fix it! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Controls:

  • Movement: ๐ŸŽฎ Arrow keys or WASD โ€“ Move left/right (both on the ground and in the air)

  • Mouse View: ๐Ÿ–ฑ๏ธ Move the mouse โ€“ Adjust player view

  • Jetpack Flight: ๐Ÿš€ Right mouse button (in the newer version, also Spacebar)

  • Pause Menu: โธ๏ธ P or Spacebar โ€“ Opens pause menu, where the game can be restarted

Skills developed:

  • Energy Management & Balance โšก โ€“ Efficiently managing jetpack fuel

  • Color Sensitivity ๐ŸŽจ โ€“ Identifying correct and incorrect cubes

  • Spatial Awareness ๐Ÿงญ โ€“ Navigating in an open space environment

  • Quick Decision-Making โณ โ€“ Choosing the optimal path to the right cubes

  • Reaction Time โšก โ€“ Avoiding wrong cubes and landing correctly

  • Route Planning ๐Ÿ—บ๏ธ โ€“ Strategically deciding where to go next

  • Failure Management ๐Ÿ’ฅ โ€“ Adapting to free fall and damage control

We wish you an enjoyable gaming experience! ๐ŸŽฎ๐Ÿš€
